During my recent stay at Oyo Knowesgate Inn in Northumberland National Park, I anticipated a relaxing gourmet getaway. The remote location, nestled in stunning countryside, was indeed charming, but my experience was marred by some logistical challenges. Upon arrival, I found the property unattended, having made multiple unsuccessful attempts to check in via their call center. After a sleepless night shift and no contact from staff, I resorted to seeking refuge at a friend's place instead. When I did manage to experience the amenities, the bar's ambiance was lively, providing a welcoming spot to unwind with a selection of quality wines and spirits. I opted for the à la carte breakfast, where cold plates showcased a modest variety of continental options. Though the dining experience offered familiarity, there’s potential for greater culinary innovation. The hotel seems to understand it has work to do to refine service and enhance the guest experience, especially in its restaurant.
